Good job setting up this blog, Audrey! This is a great idea. I found it from the Orem High Alumni site, then through a link on your website. I’ll let some people know about it. I’m excited for the reunion and would be happy to help if needed. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years. Time flies.
I would enjoy an evening activity with couples more than a daytime activity; although the daytime activity would be fun as well if we planned some fun stuff. I maybe just have more ideas for the evening activity. Here are a few:
I haven’t seen a lot of people in a long time; Nametags including maiden names might be a good idea.
More people equals more fun – we should make an effort to ensure that the largest possible number of people know about it. The email list on your site is probably the best and cheapest way for initial contact and name gathering; but maybe we could also consider a direct mail for the official invitation. Orem High probably has a graduation list with phone numbers of parents from 10 years ago. Classmates.com might also be a good resource. Reunions.com is another website for possible help.
Pictures from the reunion could be loaded up to a reunion website afterwards. We could put disposable cameras on each table if we had the budget.
I would enjoy getting a quick update on everybody. We could gather up some pictures and videos of what people have done since high school: college graduation, family photos, wedding photos, missions, vacations, careers, etc., and make a 5-10 minute presentation for a projector screen after a dinner somewhere. I don’t think it would be very interesting though unless we got a wide variety of stuff from lots of people. I have some ideas for a venue depending on the budget.
Some of the teachers or administrators might have fun if they were invited.
Orem High related trivia might be a fun way to remember stuff .
A signup sheet for people to sign up for the next reunion committee would make next time easier.
It would also be fun to set up a list of awards, both silly and serious, and either have people nominated and voted on for the awards on this blog, or do the voting at the reunion. The awards could be: Most kids, Living the Farthest Away from Orem, Living the Closest to Orem High, Changed the Most, Changed the Least, First or Last to Register, Biggest Lottery Winner, First to Retire, Best Brush with Greatness Story, Turned Out Just as Expected, Still Drives the Same Car, Never Left Home, Never Married, Woman with the Youngest Husband , Most Inspiring Story Some items could be a little sensitive though so we might want to be careful.
Again, I'd love to help if needed. If anybody wants to get in touch with me, my contact information is:

Hi Audrey! Long time no see! Thanks so much for putting the time and effort into getting this together. Dave Meyers has some awesome ideas. All I would add is the following:
* Since many of the alums have kids now and bedtimes start at 6 or 7pm, it would be great to have a daytime activity for the families with kids. We could even start the reunion earlier at 4 or 5pm at a different location if needed, to accomodate for the kids.
* We could have all submitted pictures and videos also put on a reunion website, so those who may not be able to make it can still catch up with people. We could also set-up something where people could post their own pictures and videos themselves.
* For coming up with more categories for awards, we could open that up on this blog or send out an email requesting reponses. I think we'd get some amazing creativity!
Please let me know what I can do to help. I live in Phoenix, but I'm accessible daily on the computer and would love to help in any way. We're looking forward to it!
Glad this is up and running. I want to get involved and help plan. Since leaving school, I've done a lot of web design and graphic design for some big companies. I'd love to help get the word out. I was thinking I could throw together some html based emails that we could start sending out. I was also thinking that I could build a site where we could all upload photos, bios, etc (like classmates), but I could host it for free, so everybody could upload their stuff.
I also own a promotional products business, and would love to help print shirts and other reunion items. I have a letterpress in my garage (old 1880's printing press) that I can print some sweet invites/programs/tickets for the event. I think it would be a rad way to build up some OHS pride. Whoever is in charge, I'd love to contribute some of my talents, please give me a ring 801.331.6844, and let's get the ball rolling.
It's possible Audrey is the most eficient person I know. Maybe we should start calling her President Perry just so she gets comfortable with the title. OK all you do-gooders. I hope your as good as your words. Dave- So good to hear from you. I LOVE THE SUPERLATIVE AWARD GAME. Do you want to head that up? We could all vote on 10-20 catergories(depending on prizes available), to have in the game. T and I have a couple that you didn't mention. Who drives the oldest mini van, who's the most bald, who's done the craziest thing. People could elect themselves or another member of the class and we could have the voting as part of the evenings program, many catergories people could even sign up for as they arrived. Maybe there's a way to Have people enter on the web site for the most inspirational story and we could highlight 2-3 of them. Let me know if your up to figuring out all the details on that. On a differnet note, does Stewart Farmer still do the huge Movie screen thing, could that be incoporated? Surely Ben Thompson could come up with a prize or two since he was on the Sr. council. Are you still in touch with him?
Cheyenne- I read your bio and am impressed with all you've done. Your a "change the world" type of girl.:) Could you be in charge of the daytime activity? I'll be happy to schedule a pavillion or whatever else you need. It can be as simple as a potluck/bring your own lunch at a park with a couple of activities or whatever you want to take on. We can just add the info to the web ste as it's decided. It will be great to see you, how many kids do you have?
Dan- You always were the one to offer a hand and do amazing things with your talents. Congrats on your successes. I love the idea of a phote/bio web site. Matt Mcallister, Audrey and I have been doing most the collaboration for the reunion so far and are aching for help. T- shirts and other stuff could be fun prizes for the awards game Dave talked about. A great program would really make things a cut above and give people a keepsake. What are the next steps to some of these things. What is the cost involved, etc. Thank you for volunteering. Anyone else with something to contribute please let us know. Surely we can hunt down sweet prizes, doesn't someone own a cruiseline by now? I'm an event Florist and will be happy to do the centerpieces and spruce up the event space. Thanks again, hope to hear from you soon, Katie Lila Corrigan Broadbent 801-296-2932 ktlila@juno.com
KT - I'd be happy to head up the award game. Those ideas you posted are great. Go ahead and post the rest of the ideas you have - same goes for anyone else. Maybe we can try to have a list of awards finalized in the next ten days or so.
On voting, I wonder if it won't take a lot of the evening to tally the votes that we might rather use for chatting, etc. Maybe we could have Dan set up an html voting system for each award like cnn.com has. Anyone could nominate a new contender and give reasons why they think that person would be a winner in that category. That description could be posted, then that person could receive votes. Maybe then if we don't get enough votes by the reunion, we could do some voting there.
Stu does do the movie screen business. (He and his wife Shannon just had a baby girl - Lucy! http://web.mac.com/stuartcfarmer/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html)
His email is: stuartcfarmer@mac.com
Marcus Clawson is also involved with the company. His contact is: marcusation@gmail.com)
I do keep in touch with Ben - He's in New Orleans at Medical School. His email is: benjthompson@gmail.com
Also, I think a simple day activity in addition to the night deal is great. Maybe we could have voting there as well.
I think though that our major task is getting a complete current contact list of graduates, then notifying people about the reunion and selling tickets. I could help with that as well. It might be good to get a team of people together for that.
Thanks for all the effort that everyone has put into this reunion. I have a suggestion...for those that will not be able to make it to the reunion, including myself it would be nice to post pictures from the reunion since some of us will not be able to catch up with everyone. Another thought...those that will not be there maybe we can post some photos of our familes as well. Good luck and have a great time!! Jeni South Huff
